The Welsh Government has announced a further relaxation of the Coronovirus restrictions so we’re delighted to let everyone know that Monnow Eyecare is able to offer their full range of services. We continue to work within the health board guidelines to keep patients and staff safe.
During the shutdown, the practice has still been busy. More than 350 residents were able to receive emergency treatment at Monnow Eyecare, which has meant prompt treatment for patients and reduced stress on our local NHS hospitals.

Helen Tilley, owner of Monnow Eyecare said “We are delighted to offer more services to our patients, many of whom have been unable to visit us for three months. We’re really looking forward to welcoming you back, but you’ll notice a few changes which we have introduced to keep everyone safe”.
Any patients who have noticed a change in their eyesight, are having problems with their glasses or contact lenses or have any other concerns relating to their eye health are encouraged to phone Helen and her team on 01600 715299 to arrange an appointment.
If you’ve missed your routine regular eye examination with us in the lockdown period, we’ll be in touch over the next few months to discuss your individual situation and arrange a new date for you to have your eyes checked. If you are new patient, please give us a call.
Our new safety measures
Helen and her team are keen to make sure everyone feels really safe visiting the practice, so a wide variety of preventative measures have been put in place. These include daily deep cleaning, new hand sanitiser stations, and wider spacing of seats in the waiting area. The number of people in the practice at any time will also be carefully controlled, with patients asked to wait outside until it is safe for them to enter.
Monnow Eyecare has always invested in top quality eyecare equipment and this will help our optometrists keep a safe distance from you during your eye examinations. The practice has recently bought two new Phoropter machines which makes social distancing easier and reduces the amount of cleaning required between patients.
Patients will still be able to try on glasses, under the supervision of the dispensing opticians. They will select frames for you to try on and check that they are sanitised after each patient.
